How To Throw an Epic Back To School Party

Don’t Forget to Share this post!

Happy Labor Day! It’s officially September and for most kids in US and across America it’s time to go back to school! This can be a period of mixed feelings for students so what better way to embrace the new year of education than with a party? An awesome back to school party can get your kids excited about the idea of going back to school if they aren’t already excited about it. Throwing a great party doesn’t have to be anything fancy and can create awesome memories for your kids. Today we are going to show you how to throw an epic back to school party!

How To Throw an Epic Back To School Party

1. Pick a Theme

When it comes to back to school parties, there isn’t a standard format by which they are all done. We’d recommend considering where your kids are in terms of their age, grade level and what matters to them. If they are transitioning from elementary to middle school you can have some middle school students come and do a Q&A with the younger students or even do a teacher appreciation party if they’re already in middle school, you can even do a theme where the party is set up to mimic a school day. The possibilities are endless! We recommend keeping the theme simple and relevant to what matters to your kids and their peers. Consider asking your kids and their friends to help you pick the party theme and plan it all out, their perspective can be extremely helpful. Once you’ve determined a theme, the next step is to consider what you’ll need to make the party a reality which we breakdown next.

2. Determine What You Need

Depending on what theme you choose, you will now have to determine what you need. Will there be live music or a DJ? If so, you’ll want to rent speakers, if you’re wondering what to look out for when renting speakers, we got you covered in our post How To Rent Speakers For Your Next Event. You should also consider what food, drinks and materials you’ll need for the party attendees. Will you be giving away bags with back to school goodies such as notebooks, pens, and folders? If so, be sure to consider how many students will be attending the party, all the materials needed and even get some extras just in case so when it’s time for the party, you have everything you need. Consider consulting an AV team for any audiovisual equipment needs you may have for the best results. Hiring companies to help with catering and entertainment also helps create a more full experience without you having to be overworked in the process! Carefully consider all your needs and plan ahead of time.

3. Create and Send Out Invitations

Now that you’ve picked a theme and determined everything you need from food and beverages to audiovisual equipment and entertainment it’s time to start sending out invitations! However, before you do, consider how you will send out the invitations. Will it be through regular postcards or through an online invitation system? For back to school parties, an online-based invite system may be better as it’s easier to reach everyone and track who will and will not attend. Once you’ve determined how you will deliver the invitations it’s time to design them! Consider the theme and medium when designing the invites. If you get stuck, check out our post Top 10 Tips To Design The Perfect Party Invitation. Once you’ve finalized the design of the invites, its time to send them out to everyone! Consider timing as it’s best to send these out at least 2 weeks before the party to give everyone a heads up to ensure they keep that day available.
